The Casa Dracula is the largest and most famous historical house
in town. Built in 1852 by Don Antonio Domingues, Todos Santos’
first sugar baron. The name comes from its unique Gothic arched
windows, not an actual vampire. There's said to be treasure buried
somewhere within the walls. The Domingues family owned the
Casa continuously until 1985, when they sold it to a group of
young American writers & film directors. The new owners have
restored the out-buildings, reinforced and membraned the roof & added an upstairs
bathroom. Otherwise, the grand old
building
with original character has been preserved almost intact.

The imposing brick structure has 2 floors and 14-ft ceilings,
with each floor approximately 2500 square feet. Three
bedrooms, a foyer, a salon & bathroom upstairs, two large
rooms on the ground floor. In an adjoining outbuilding are a bathroom, kitchen & guest bedroom. Laundry facilities are in
a gated rear courtyard protected from the street by a 10-ft
high brick wall. A central courtyard is formed by the out-
building and main house on two sides & a solarium and
brick walls on the other two. There's an
adjoining garden
and, in the rear, a very spacious brick-walled garden
(about a ¼ acre) with existing foundation and peaceful,
total privacy awaits development. There is ample space for
several guest houses. This would be a perfect enclave
for a large family, business or a small boutique inn.
